Dr. Jonathan McNeil began the business even before he was technically out of dental school, and that kind of determination has helped his practice climb in popularity in just a few short years. We spoke with Dr. McNeil about this extraordinary growth in such a small window of time.
Dr. McNeil, your practice is relatively new, but you’ve definitely found success. Have you received any kind of recognition for your hard work?
We were ranked as the second best dental practice in Anchorage, receiving a gold label. At one point, one of my competitors came in and introduced himself — just to see who I was. We went from zero to one of the best very quickly. I now employ 35 individuals and three dentists full time, providing quality jobs for them. We try to never say no in order to make the customer happy. If they aren’t, we have a money-back guarantee.
Have advancements in technology played into the growth and success of your practice at all?
Technology significantly impacted all aspects from clinical practice to marketing. Marketing is the most difficult as maintaining a positive online reputation is always a challenge. We are now a chartless office, and we bill electronically, communicate with our patients via email and market online more than any other medium.
You seem to be a great fit at your job. What does it take to make it in the dental industry?
You must be motivated and hardworking and have a solid foundation of dental knowledge. We try to have outstanding customer service, and we have our own lab, so we control the quality of our lab work, which we feel is excellent. The most rewarding part of running my own business is not having to answer to anyone.
